Cardiac arrest is the third leading cause of death worldwide. The World Restart a Heart (WRAH) day takes place every year on and around 16 October and raises global awareness of the importance of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests and increases the rates of bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) through training and campaigning and thus survival for victims of cardiac arrest. International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) who recognised the success of its predecessor, European Restart a Heart, which was first announced in 2012. Our aim is that every person should have the opportunity to learn the skills of CPR – it only takes two hands to save a life!
WRAH is an initiative that is supported by all the ILCOR constituent councils, and other working groups.
We welcome the support of the Arab Resuscitation Council and anticipate that this Council will be a valuable partner in the campaign to spread the message that every citizen can save a life.
